2016 SAMA RANDY YOUTH WRITE COMPETITION

Better Breed Cameroon the youth-led, youth-focused philanthropic initiative is relaunching its annual youth essay competition. This year, the contest has been renamed the ‘Sama Randy Youth Write’ in memory of a pioneer member who passed on in the early months of 2015.

This year’s essay competition challenges undergraduate students of all higher institutions of Cameroon to ponder on the extent to which entrepreneurship would assure a brighter future for Cameroon. The question reads:

Can Cameroonians Entrepreneur Their Way to a Brighter Future? Why and Why Not?

Thus inviting respondents to argue from two sides.

As always, the competition requires essay responses to be a minimum of 1000 words (roughly two pages) and a maximum of 1,500 words in English. All submissions should be made by emailed attachments to the association’s email address: betterbreed@gmail.com. The subject of the email should read: ‘Sama Randy Youth Write Submission’ and the email body needs to outline the name, contact number, age, degree program and higher institution to which the respondent belongs.

This year’s competitors stand to win one of three prizes; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize of 50.000, 30.000 and 20.000 franc cfa respectively.  The submissions will be graded based on content and presentation of arguments, spelling, grammar and compliance with rules of submission.

The deadline for submission has been set for the 31st of January 2016. Winners will be contacted by the 8th of February 2016 and awarded on 11th February 2016- the National Youth Day.

About Better Breed Cameroon

Better Breed Cameroon is a Youth Association founded in January 2014 by Monique Kwachou on the perceived need for greater and better investment in Cameroonian youth; their development and empowerment. Better Better believes rather than criticizing those we have in power today and the currently practiced vices in our society, we ought to solve the problem from the roots by rearing a young generation which would do better as leaders and citizens when the time comes. To us the truest form of sustainable development is youth development. We are based in Buea, in the Southwest Region of Cameroon, from where we carry out our ideas and projects in youth development and empowerment.
